Andrea Coote MP was elected to Parliament in September 1999 as Member for Monash Province. In 2006, Andrea won the seat of Southern Metropolitan Region in the reformed Upper House.

Andrea has proved herself to be a pivotal part of the Victorian Liberal Party. She has been a member of the Victorian Leadership Team in her role as Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Legislative Council) and Manager of the Opposition in Business Legislative Council. She has also held several Shadow Ministerial positions including; Community Services, Environment and Climate Change, Children, Aged Care and Carers, Arts, Housing, Tourism, Victorian Communities, Aboriginal Affairs and Shadow Cabinet Secretary.

Following graduation from Fintona Girls School, Andrea went on to study at the Hawthorn Institute of Education. Later Andrea attended the University of Melbourne, acquiring a Bachelor of Arts. She has also completed a business marketing course.

Prior to entering Parliament, Andrea worked in both the private sector and in politics. She was an Electorate Officer and Research Officer to state and federal MPs and worked as a Ministerial Staffer to a State Government Minister. Andrea has also worked as the Director of Development at Geelong Grammar and as the Business Development Manager for Buchan Communications as well as owned two successful small businesses.

Andrea’s community involvement includes membership to a number of local organisations including the Parliamentary Lions Club, the Rotary Club of Toorak, Catalina Flying Boat Club of Victoria, National Council of Jewish Women, an ambassador for Windana and Parliamentary Friends Of Israel and Japan.

Andrea is married and has three adult children.
